Update: Morning drive, the laser was going off almost continuously. I was driving into the sun this morning, as usual. Last night was driving after dark and no laser false alarms.
The sun and the particular windshield must be the cause. I am going to call valentine again today and see if they have a fix.
Someone on another forum posted that there was a firmware update or something on the V1 to adjust the laser detector or something. Mine has the latest firmware as per Valentines web site.
As far as finding a switched +12v source I am just starting to investigate this. I am sad to loose the auto-muting feature of the SAVVY.
The mirror tap thing is done by many but that does now switch off with the car, and the detector will stay on.
