If you're out eating with a significant other, and she/he goes to the restroom; do you feel the need to check your phone while they're away? I bet most would say yes.

I'm guilty of this to a degree, however I'm the CTO for a 24/7 POS system so if it goes down and I'm alerted, I need to take action instantly.
I try to discretely check my watch to see what the notification was that arrived on my phone - 99% I can disregard (emails, crap from other apps, texts etc.) but occasionally I get an alert I have to look at. Would be nice to be one of those people who can just put their phone away and ignore it, but in my role at work I just can't do that - yet.
