Check Craigslist, or whatever local classified you have.
First find out what you need, sizes and such, then search the used market for something that fits your budget.
Also, get a good helmet, gloves, shorts etc, it really makes a huge difference in the overall experience, and the more fun you have the more likely you are to continue.
