Never tested the 50i, and no, especially in Sport mode, there is surprisingly quick response and acceleration. Never felt like I was fighting to do what I wanted.
In this case, because of the shiv I was giving myself by getting rid of the Mercedes 6 months in, I went to my old faithful at Park, who gave me the best underwater number for the e450 and a very good discount as well. We've purchased from them (and the same advisor) for years.
