I was pretty underwhelmed as well. I only used it on the test drive, so none of my high-quality stuff, but it seemed like it had better sound overall than my E92, but was no louder. Slight improvement, on the whole.
EDIT: After getting it, using Logic 7 and adjusting the equalizer (I hadn't previously done this), it sounds badass. Far beyond that of the stock E9x I had and much better dynamics than the E9x premium stereo.
