theres no rhyme or reason. speculation at the time and i still believe is true is that component shortage can cause a QC delay. it is not indicative of a problem necessarily. they run the car through the line and install the part they were short of in qc.
for a ref point, my X7 was built on the first day of LCI production, July 28 2022 and was in and out of QC within a day or so. other people at the same time had their car stuck for weeks.
