To honest, I find the entire "break-in" worries comical. After owning so many cars, I've never worried about it. And with the M50i, there is so much power and acceleration for a "family SUV" that I rarely if ever go above 3000 rpm just driving around town or even getting on the highway.
We didn't buy an M3 or M5, so if any of us are itching to hammer our X7's, maybe we bought the wrong vehicle.
My advice, just drive the thing like you actually care about it and you will be fine. If you drive it like a rental car, again, maybe you got the wrong vehicle.
