I also depends what year is the STI. I owned a 06 STI and it's quicker around a lap the 08 version, especially due to the softer suspension in the new STI.
In straight line the 135i is faster (overall), but cornering, the 06 STI is much faster and stable (stock for stock I mean). With the 08 STI, it's probably still better at cornering, but not by that much.
Both cars suffer from understeer, but the AWD system in the STI gives you more space for errors and can let you be more agressive if you know how to handle it.
Of course if you throw somes mods in the game, every thing can change quickly...
Overall I prefer my 135i, but the STI is a beast and I miss it a lot during winter (Canada...).
