I am super paranoid about this, so I pull both rear seat releases before I disconnect the battery and push the rear seats forward. If I end up doing something dumb, like close the trunk, (or someone else does to be helpful...) then I can crawl through the back seats and pull the glow in the dark trunk release handle to open the trunk. No need to do that. Yet!
