Love my 335i M sport. Great daily drive. I too was considering getting the M3, but I could get a very nice 335i M Sport for the same price as a used 30K mileage 2011 M3. Also the 335i gets much better gas mileage if that matters.
Also depends on what you want the car for.. You wanna bang and go fast and hit it hard a lot and can afford it. M3 is your best bet. You want a great driving, better MPG, still sweet, sporty car.. the 335 will do the job just fine and it is fun to drive!
My opinion a bit biased, but I don't regret my decision at all, even after driving both cars back to back.
