Here’s an illustration of the rear axle carrier to which the rear diff is attached. You can see how the weight is distributed and not just focused on the rear diff and axle:



Don’t forget to chock the wheel(s) on the opposite end being lifted…especially when lifting the entire rear axle. The front wheels have no parking brake or tranny park pawl to prevent the vehicle from moving forward when the rear axle is lifted.
