In the event that a few dealerships have a few in stock, that is small relative to the rest of the market - BMW isn't going to give those $8,000+ credits you typically see on 7er's to help those few dealerships move their inventory when the rest of the market is still hot.

I agree these are very different cars but I am highly confident we will see similar discounts on an x7 soon. I remember first shopping for an x6 in 2011 and being told by the dealer that this is a niche car and not meant to be a volume seller so don't expect any real discounts. Give it 6 months or a little longer and there will be much better deals to have. There is just too much competition for any of these cars to hold pricing.
