Back in the olden days (like 5 years ago) I had it beaten into my head that the corn fuel was bad for cars (bad on the rubber, etc). since then, I've avoided ethanol like Madonna avoids good taste or self-awareness.
BUT....curious. Anyone out here risk it? What is the current thinking on the a-MAIZE-ing fuel? (get it? get it? heh. heh. heh.
)
Is it still bad? Was it ever?
(I ask because 'round here, if I avoid ethanol I am largely stuck at 91 octane. To get the 93 or 94 I need to go with an ethanol fuel.....)
(and i'll leave out all the economic/food costing issues with subsidizing corn crops for Midwest farmers (who hate the gubberment...I mean, not the subsidizing part, the OTHER parts....
).
this is purely about the chemistry and physics on our cars.
