The M2 doesn't have enough alcantara. So far it's just on the door cards and handbrake right? Who actually touches the door card of their door? You've got a door handle and the hard plastic faux leather of the top door sill to touch. 33k miles in on my 1er and those pieces are still perfect. Honestly the leather on the handbrake itself looks in significantly worse condition than any of the alcantara bits in the car including the handbrake boot.
In fact none of the pieces in my 1er are in poor condition. Pro tip: Don't spill stuff in the car.
