BMW makes it a requirement on the engines in the M-cars (and is covered under the maintenance plan). I was not told about break in service when I took delivery of the car (M50i). So when I had an appointment with product specialist at the dealer to go over the features, they looked at the “required service “ in IDrive / connect and said it will be listed as 1200 service required if it is needed. In my car it was not listed and thus said not required ..🤷🏽
