Maybe not as much in the US but in other countries plenty of people take those off road and drive the crap out of them. Any of these will do fine off road. Usually driver's comfort level and skill level max out way before vehicle's capability is reached.

Personally Toyota/Lexus SUVs would be my choice if overlanding was my goal since there is so much aftermarket support for them. But xdrive is pretty good system and I was impressed during off road tour in performance center in SC.
Agree, I was talking about US market, off roading is mainly old Jeeps and some old 4runners
