Not sure of the actual RPMs since I am always looking at traffic and not my Tach, but I would say mid 1000's as a guess.
The trick to getting the car rolling is to give it enough gas to keep the car from stalling, but not so much that the car takes off on you. After you get used to it, try not to slip the clutch to much (because you will while you are learning). Good luck, and it isn't that difficult just takes a little bit of practice. My first car was a lot harder than this to learn on and I figured it out without ever having to replace the clutch down the road.
