I under the impression from the info I've found on here and other sites that if the calipers were unpainted/grey, I had the crappy single piston base calipers front and rear. Your best bet is to have the parts dept at the dealership tell you what's on your car with your VIN.
All 335i come with 4 piston calipers in the front.
