He was denied participation at a BMW CCA PDE in Lime Rock a few weeks ago because of his tints!

Bottom line, each chapter has a different rule. Here in NJ, the Chief of Tech asks to be able to see your car no latter than a week before the event to give you his decision. It is not so much the windows on the side that matter (they will ask you to open them anyway), it is more the back one. The driver in your back needs to be able to see through your car at anytime to anticipate whatever could happen in front of you.
