F8x M3/4 went on sale on June 21, 2014. I participated in the group ED, and we picked up our cars on June 23, 2014.
I am expecting that the group ED will take place in March of 2016, immediately when the M2 goes on sale. I can't wait.
Go for the M2 and European Delivery. Once you do a European Delivery, you will never take delivery of a BMW stateside again. The experience is simply wonderful.
