You need the latest map data, obviously, and possibly a later firmware. Try the latest map data first because even if that's not enough on its own at least you'll have the latest maps.
However, I think it's a PITA - in really 'crowded' places like central London the fancy graphics obscure information you'd rather see, at least I think they do.
