I used to sell cars in the 80's. New cars are not marked up that much, but... There is a number that no dealer will ever go under. Never.
So whatever the price of the loaner, it will never be at a loss. That means that as long as there is inventory, you should be able to negotiate a good price for the loaner and then tell the dealer you'll wait and take a new one at that price.
