I know its the UK but....I used to sell new cars and it wouldn't be totally strange to sell a dozen new cars at once to a rental outfit and delivery them on a transporter. If the deal went south after the cars were registered but before delivery then its entirely possible the cars were in some sort of limbo until it was all sorted out.
I would have thought the cars should have the balance of the manufacturers 3 year warranty though?
In any case it seems like a proper conversation with the dealer about the car would make sense.
