I believe that I read somewhere that if you fold the mirrors manually before turning off the car, they will not automatically unfold to take a picture for remote 3D view.
This makes sense, as if you are parking in a tight spot that requires that you fold in the mirrors, the car doesn't want to unfold them and risk damage.
If you have the settings to auto-fold the mirrors when locking, and you pull in turn off the car and they fold when it locks, then they will unfold to take a picture for remote 3D view.
It all makes sense in my mind.
