Well, that post does show the iDrive 7 menu for Climate Control rules with both the Driver and Passenger options available. In stock form, there is only a Driver option as you already know. I believe the rest of that thread has the additional parameters to turn on this functionality via coding for the front passenger.
That is the only thread where I have seen coding this functionality discussed. What else were you thinking of?
