This is completely incorrect and an old urban legend.
I still own an NSX and it's a fantastic car. I can find deficiencies in my M3 everytime I drive that car. The NSX is largely regarded as what set Ferrari straight and made them step up the quality. Even today it remains competitive on the track and with a tuned turbo/supercharger, it is very difficult to beat. It was fine tuned with input from Ayrton Senna...
