I track my 335i as often as I can now, so if I get an M2 it will certainly see quite a bit of track time. (I have little doubt that it will be fit for purpose.) The only wild card for me at this point is if I gravitate back toward an F80 M3 instead... but either way, my 3-year plan includes building up a dedicated track car anyway.

The two concerns are not mutually exclusive! In fact, in my case, the former is entirely representative of the latter. Not that I feel a standard steel roof will significantly hinder the car's track performance, mind you... but the concern I have is that forgoing a CF roof signifies a general lack of commitment on BMW's part to making the M2 as light,nimble and enjoyable to drive as possible in this price segment.
