I got Dunlop Direzzas in 225 front and 255 rear, they were $860 from tirerack WAY below the $1k threshold. Given that you want a smaller rear size, that's even cheaper. Advan Neovas IIRC are ~$970 which is still under the barrier.
Why are you thinking of putting the stock width on the rear? The grip on our cars is tenuous already so you should try get as much of it as you can. 255 fit with no issues.
