This topic has been discussed in depth, even accompanied by dyno reports at m5board.com. There is an "extra" filter the so called charcoal filter in the intake system of the M5/M6 that (I think) is supposed to reduce fuel vapor emmsisions back out of the intake tract. Removing this filter has shown to provide some gains on the dyno.
So the question is. DOES THE M3 HAVE THIS. I'd be willing to bet. I am surprised no current owner can/will verify.
