Denied on any mods

Checked with my dealer and they said no exhaust, and no intakes, or it might void the warranty (CPO).
I really don't care all that much. I have had modded cars in the past and was going to go easy on this one any way. But that seems extreme.

Anyone with similar experience?

Yup that sounds right. Even if they say thats ok and it does not void ur warranty , they may still void any warranty repairs if they can prove that the mod caused it.

You can always just find a BMW approved independent service center. They typically are more realistic regarding what breaks and what causes issues. It is on BMW not the dealer to deny warranty, that's the law in the U.S. I've been down this road a few times in the past with other companies too and have yet to loose on any issue.

I have intakes, downpipes and catback exhaust and my dealer didn't sat a word to me about it, I guess I'm lucky.

This to me is the norm..... Unless you tune or swap engine components most don't even bat an eye, its not worth a smart customer bending them over the fire for.....

My dealer didn’t seem to mind intakes, but did make a comment while discussing car performance “now I know this isn’t you, but some people plug in devices that improve the cars performance, we would know and can check for that even if you took to off.” He is a car guy, so maybe this was just a word of caution

No you’re not lucky.

Why should they care? Why should any dealer care? It’s your car and your property, not theirs. Hell, you could strap a kerosene jet engine to its rear and it’s none of their business.

Where it becomes a problem is if you experience something major like a blown cylinder head and try to get it replaced/repaired under warranty. A big cost item like that, and suddenly they will look at your mods much more critically.

That's what I was talking about, the OP said his dealer wouldn't warranty his car with those mods, mine said as long as I don't touch the primary cats or tune it then I'm good, hence me being lucky.

This is true. But also numerous CEL error codes if they happen are more than happy to point to mods. I know this first hand.

I suspect it would more be a case of ‘the owner proving it didn’t’.
