V2 Installed, Failed...

After taking about 20 miutes to wire in the harness, we spent about 2 hours trying to load the software and it was a no go.

Do you have the right firmware loaded?
Check your Comm port. If COMM4 doesn't work, try COMM3?
Are you able to "go online" with the PROcede User Software?

Do you have the ignition on (pushing start button twice but with your foot OFF the brake and/or clutch NOT pushed in if you have a manual) but the engine off?

Loading up the software is the easiest part, takes seconds.
Just make sure you are online and connected properly.

uninstall the serial drivers and reinstall. Go to device manager to see which comm it is assigned to. Open the V2 software and set the comm accordingly and then plug in. Make sure you have power going into the procede.

I was helping do the install. This is the second time Ive run into this shit. Im done helping out with v2 installs. I do the wiring in 15 minutes but then run into hours worth of problems with the stupid software.

Yes, the power was on with two taps. Yes, the comms port was set to whatever the device manager said the serial cable was on.

No, it would never go "online". No matter which steps we did first, it would never go "online". Extremely frustrating and annoying.

So now the guy is driving around with his bypass plugs in because the supposedly easy part is always the hardest part.

Depends if you have comfort access or not - if you have comfort access, you need to push it twice.

Not true. Come on read the manual. First push pretty much wakes up the car. Second push brings it into accessories position. Press again and it brings it back down to first position. Just like a regular key in a car man.

Nope, even without. The car we were working on didnt have CA. Still need to push twice to get into accessories mode.

Google the usb manufacturer and download the usb drivers, thats what I did for the one I bought from best buy. Make sure there are no other drivers, if there is remove it and load the new driver.

I just did an installation last night and it went smooth as glass.

If you have the RS USB cable and don't have the drivers for it, here you go.
I think Driver72 is doing it the Comfort Access way. With CA, you press once to turn on the stereo, press twice (w/o stepping on the brake) to turn on the entire electrical system without turn on the engine.

Go to Bestbuy, get the 16" Belkin USB to serial. Works like a charm... Are you running windows vista?

BTW, I haven't read the manual on this until now.

I'd suggest NOT pushing the S/S button twice. Additionally, that's what the install guide for V2 says. Nothing about pushing it twice.
With CA you do have to push the start button twice. Once for radio/etc twice for ignition. On my car anyway.

You are correct for CA equipped cars, this is how you do it...

who really cares how many times you have to push the button....just make sure the gas gage moves and the car is not running. End of story.

On this one it looks like he went into the install ready to fail. If you don't have the serial cables drivers and the generic windows drivers won't work, your SOL until you get the driver.

How can you expect to run the Procede if you can't connect to it.....duh
