DBX
Please talk me out of wanting a 2025 DBX 707 instead of a M60 X7. I believe the DBX 707 with a few miles can be had for mid $150k in about a year or so. I started read into/watching videos on the DBX 707 and am kind of obsessed with it. Apparently 2025 was a major interior/infotainment redesign and everything I have read indicates that it is the perfect SUV, incredibly fast, great handling, beautiful, practical and unique. I currently have an F15 and want to upgrade sooner than later.

I love the DBX as well but get ready to take a bath on resale. I have heard even dealerships are scared to buy them from customers because they will have trouble selling them again.

The 707 is a beast, but it's definitely in a much different stratosphere compared to a X7. Even though their values are dropping, it still has the maintenance and insurance costs of a $300K vehicle. If you're OK with that and live near a dealer, then it's a great ride.

Considering a new DBX (>$300k) is over twice the cost of a new x7m60i, they really should not be close.
But you could get a used DBX707 or get a used X7 m50i, some pure turbos for $5k, a custom ecu tune for $500-1000, and have much more horsepower than the DBX with a lot of $$$ left over that you saved not buying the DBX! With a 4.4l v8, the n63 in the m50i should have greater potential than the DBX's 4.0l v8 if you're going to tune. |

Used 2024 models are still pushing $200K in the Chicago market so you’ll be waiting more than a few years to see sub $150K on a ‘25.
As others have mentioned, lots of people can afford to BUY Astons, Ferrari etc, but most cannot afford to OWN them. For shits and giggles call your insurance agent and get a full coverage quote on a ‘25 707. Have the barf bag ready. |

I don't really understand this comparison request.
The DBX new is twice the price of the X7 while being smaller with less cargo space, which is by design. While the X7 depreciates for sure, the DBX's depreciation is catastrophic, essentially losing half its resale value in the first year or so. Even if you are buying one used for around 175k-200, that's still quite a bit more than an X7, plus maintenance costs will be higher, tech will be lower (especially infotainment), insurance will be higher, and the difficulty of service will be higher given less dealers/mechanics/parts available. You are essentially paying for the badge and ~.8 seconds faster 0-60. At that point, just get the X7 tuned. My advice - take $175k, buy the X7 M60i AND a mid-2000s Porsche Cayman. Have a fantastic 2 car garage. |

I don’t think the X7 is even the right comp vehicle for the DBX. The X7 is a dual identity 7 seat luxury family hauler or SUV 7 series cruiser depending on the buyer. It is quick especially in M60 and alpina trim and can do some sporting stuff… because BMW
I think right comparison to the DBX is the X5 M. sport first suv. |

I was initially in love with the DBX as well, but after test driving a 2022 and seeing several of them on the road in real life I was severely disappointed.
The 707 definitely improves on the aesthetic and performance, but at this point if I buy an Aston it will be a DB12 or used DBS Superleggera. |

You can’t really compare an X7 M60i with a DBX 707. It would be a better comparison with. The base DBX 550. I am planning on replacing my Bentayga with a DBX 707, but the X7 and 707 are totally different. They drive and feel completely different. When it comes to maintanence, you would still have the same costs of maintaining a 200-300k vehicle. In my case, I have spent well over 50k on my Flying Spur W12 in 4 years. If maintenance is not an issue for you, then by all means go ahead.

Thanks for all the replies. I agree they are not apples to apples comparisons but they are the two cars that I am telling myself that I would potentially choose from. I don’t want an x5m because I already have an f83 comp. I have read on other sites that as far as insurance if you go with Hagerty you can get very cheap insurance on an AM. As far as maintenance, an extended warranty is essential for repairs but for routine stuff you are looking at $2k a year. I would not buy anything older than 2025 because it was a major update to the interior and infotainment. X7 m60 is what the logical part of my brain is telling me to get but if 2025 707 can be had for a heavily depreciated price it could be hard to pass up given the uniqueness and allure of the brand as I have always wanted an AM.

In my opinion, X7 M60i is a must, even if you get the DBX lol. I still think the X7 is a better daily driver than the DBX. I personally think going for a 23-24 DBX 707 is a better deal, regardless of the interior because you can get those for around 170-180 rather than spending over 240 plus for a 25.

The depreciation on them is second to none. By this time next year there will be sub $200k 2025 models.
