Power Mirror Acting Crazy
My driverside power mirror will not stay in place. It will turn all the way out when I open the door and when it goes in, it goes all the way in. The passenger side is fine. It goes in when I push the button and stops where it is supposed to when it goes out.
I have to manually put the drivers side where I want it and there is no click for the normal position. It clicks about half way between all the way in and where the normal position should be. Last night when I parked it I manually pushed the mirror all the way in, when I put the dog out last night it was all the way out, when I got up this morning it was in it's normal position and when I opened the door to get the Owner's Manual it turned all the way out. I thought my wife was doing it just to mess with me, but she said she never touched it.

Unless the dog is messing with you, it's probably defective. I thought you were going to say the mirror doesn't go back to the right place from the memory settings. I had that addressed under warranty, and now it did it again, almost like the reference point is wrong (the mirror tries to go back to where it thinks it should go).

Sounds to me like the OP is talking about the housing, not the mirror itself -- that it's the folding mirror function that is not working properly. Whichever it is, it probably involves a replacement of the related motor, which is what happened with my passenger-side mirror (the mirror, not the housing).

Yes it's the housing not the mirror itself. It folds in just fine, but when it goes back out it goes out way too far.

Just in case somebody finds this in a search, here is the thread I used to take care of the problem:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=469168&page=3 Basically I took the cover off and cut the white wire. Now the only thing that doesn't work is the automatic folding in of the mirror. I can live with that.
