The trouble begins... BMW experience beginning to suck

Sigh, 4399 Miles on my first BMW and i can feel the problems beginning to lurk my next couple of years to come. Brake Squeals, Long Crank (first time today). the worst part is, from my conversation with the SA about my car's problems they seem to try and put the blame on me? using bad gas or braking too harshly?

I hate how My SA is acting after sale. before sale he promised how they will fix ANYTHING because they get reimbursed. what a load of crap. after sale he doesn't even acknowledge me in anyway.

Having heard of all these problems and how dealership employees handle our cars when it is in service is also giving me doubts of taking it in also... beginning to regret this purchase. comming from a very reliable Infiniti G35 which gave me absolutely no problems... sigh someone make me feel better... please...

Well, you didn't honestly expect to have ZERO problems when the HPFP problem is still rampant, did you?

But it sounds like you need a new SA or new dealer.

The squeaky brake thing has been common of many BMWs. My dad's previous '04 E60 had sqeaky brakes, too. I don't know much about it, but it must have something to do with high performance brakes. It seems like normal operation but I don't know.

How do i get a new SA? just randomly call another dealer and they will assign someone to me? i thought it was best to go to the person who sold me the car. at first i thought they would care most because i gave him business. i have a feeling other dealers wouldnt even give me a loaner or care about me because i didnt buy the car from them.

It happens. Either take it to another dealer or request for a different SA that is knowledgeable and cares about your car!

The person that sold you the car is the Client Advisor (CA). Serivce and maintenance is handled by the Service Advisor (SA), and Technicians do the actual work.

If you were complaining to your salesman (CA) about your issues, he could probably care less since he already sold you the car and already made money off you. He gets no money listening to your problems after sale. Though a good CA who wants to build a good relationship and get potential return customers would probably have got you in touch with an SA instead of blaming you/blowing you off like that.

Dude, when you go in for service and give them your car, ask for a different service advisor. If worse comes to worse and they don't accept your complaint, go talk to the service manager and he'll work into it right away. Regarding about your long crank, i did have that too when i reached 200 miles. It happened once and never had one again (i currently have 7200 miles and no signs of anything about the hpfp epic fail). About your break squeals, i had it around 5500 miles. unfortunately, they still don't have a solution for it unless your pads are worn out already and they have to replace it. I still have the brake squeaks but i think we don't have a choice but to live with it. Anyways, even with those problems, i'm still happy with my car and have no regrets.

Isn't everyone in NYC rude and unhelpful?

You are free to take your car for service to any dealer or any service advisor you like. If you get a bad attitude from one, just immediately go to the manager and complain, and ask for another. If you get poor service from one dealership, try a different one.

It sounds like you haven't actually had any problem with your car yet. Just relax and drive it. If it quits running, press the little button on the roof and tell the dude who answers to come and get your car and get you a loaner while they fix it.

I don't have any of the answers as I'm not sure what to do either, when things that are not normal are passed-off as normal with BMW. I don't know if it's a German thing, but on my car already, I was told that BMW is "strict" about warranty and covered maintenance. The last time I heard that was on my friend's Porsche. He was told that they weren't sure if his car was going to be covered under warranty (WTF he had 1,000+ miles left and they claimed it was very close LOL).

I might go to another dealership so when that happens, I'll be able to report what it's like to go where the car was not purchased for warranty/maintenance...

dealesrs get paid based on star ratings, and BMW pays the dealer for warranty work.

Doesnt matter where you bought the car, any dealer should be happy to serve you as an opportunity for business.

That being said the service I have had at BMW dealers has run the gambit from lackluster to spectacular. This is all at the same dealer mind you.

Callign BMW and complainig about a dealer's service quality CAN hurt the dealer. Those surveys are actually very important.

If they off you, go as far as to ask for a customer satisfaction survey.

I feel ya, I have had a ton of issues on my car and many discussions and I am finally at a point where I go through the SM for everything now. It sucks though, and I went to 3 different dealers and 2 of them completly sucked worse than the 1st one, so I stuck with that one.

It's not just manhattan, got some pretty bad pot holes here in the S. Bronx. Which dealer are we talking about here, BMW of Manhattan?

It is funny you mentioned that because my CA actually called me and said why didnt i give hi a full rating (i did, ecept one thing which was he didnt let me test drive any cars EVEN AFTER i purchased my car)

He actually asked me can I just "pretend" that he brought me to test drive My car? (on delivery date he left me drive my own car and called it a test drive) i really wanted to test out an M3 but he insisted that "the battery was out and that he couldn't"(angel eyes and electronics were on) so he clearly BS'ed me...
Also, "the car is a stick shift" (even though i myself ordered a stick shift). that was actually when the negativity began with this dealer for me. but at the moment i was getting a BMW so i cared-less about how the CA was behaving. But when he called me and asked my "why i did not give a full rating" (even though i was already VERY nice on the survey except the test drive question) that i felt was very unprofessional lol. i thought those were confidential or something its like being called out at a restaurant by the head chef asking why is the food bad. it was a very awkward phone call.... all i said was "umm my bad?"

Life Quality BMW at Brooklyn, btw if anyone is considering an AUDI, do not go to life quality audi... they actually kicked me out for looking like a S5. Just because i was 22 years old Inquiring about an S5 they just said "we are very busy cant you see we are with a client right now" and 3 CA's shot me dirty looks so i jus left i felt like giving them a finger... that just made my decision on a BMW 335xi which is probably a lot less problematic to have to deal with than if i had an Audi.

never buy a bmw w/o test driving. As long as you have a valid license and insurance, BMW of America WANTS you in that car.

Driving it IS the selling point.

Your dealer is a fuck. plain and simple. Rash his ass on the survey...

Matter of fact, CALL BMWNA and complain that you were NOT allowed to test drive a car, and thus chose a lesser model.

I took delivery on my 2009 335 thursday.

All in all over a 3 day period of decision making I drove FOUR different 335i's.

The first two my CA went with me.

The thrid, they handed the keys to the Msport auto to my wife and I and said, "see how you guys like it"

The final, they handed me the keys to the 6M Msport car and said - "We know you would like to try the car on the open highway where it belongs. Enjoy."

I bought the 6M after the highway ride.

That is how you should be treated on test drives...

While my dealer DOES lack ( IMO) in the credability and honesty department and I may not deal with them again on this, they were as they should be on test drives.

Dont feel bad about your audi. Ive driven the audis. IMO if you want a VW with a big engine and different body, by all means, drive an audi. They handle like shit.
