Believe you may have options to disable this in iDrive, but one quick and dirty trick you can use is to simply switch the mirror adjustment switch to the passenger side, as I believe the tilt down feature only works when it is set to the driver (left) side.

Just FYI, this is pretty standard across the car industry. Every car I've owned of different makes is like that (except opposite from what's described... move the switch away from passenger side to turn off)
