May keep the 330
I took a 10%, wife took a 15% pay cut, a new M3 or even the 330d is out for me. Now, I'm thinking of keeping my car. What should I do? Check out my "garage" for current mods.
I want a BMW ceiling (roof mounted) flip-down DVD player for my daughter. I also want a full M-Tech kit with a Studie Lip, but I really doubt the lip part. I-Pod reto or Bluetooth retro? Maybe a painted rear CF rear spoiler? Your thoughts please, Car has almost 57K miles, runs and feels great! Danny

Adult in me agrees and envy's you.
Kid in me wants a reward for keeping my car, stupid, but I've been a member of the stupid club more than a few times...President ten or twenty times... Danny

Why do i feel lost on what the hell youre asking.
In my mind you just said you and your wife took pay cuts, and then you said something completely irrelevant by saying you cant buy a M3, or a 330d (which isnt sold in america...) Then you went on to say ask which mod you should get for your car, and then you feel like you should be rewarded for keeping your car even though your pay was cut. Is this correct?

I wanted to buy a new car, can't happen now, so I want to keep the car I have an mod it more. Dumb? Probably, but I already conceded that on my prior post. I thought the 330 D was already here in the states, but hey you sound like you know more than me.

If your car still runs and feels great and is still under warranty there's no reason why you should get rid of it especially with the the pay cuts you and your wife got.
Start off with the Ipod retro it's cheap, very useful (more than I can say for the body kit) + you can DIY (I suggest the spec dock http://specdock.com/) I don't know about the DVD player but there are a lot of models with different specs and prices out there, then you can start working on exterior cosmetic stuff. Just saying what I would do in your place |

I'd say M-tech is the way to go Danny! Especially with your color, the car is unique as it is.
DVD player is a great idea for the kids, I'd think they would enjoy that. How about some sways if you don't have them already...just in case you want to go tear up the roads.

Definitely keep your 330, imho a 330 (2k6?) isn't old enough to replace. The hurry up and get a new car before the warranty runs out is something that the car industry tried to teach people to secure revenue, just like wireless phone cos. tell you that you are "eligible" to get a new phone in 2 years (and extend the contract i.e. lock in a high rate, while prices are falling--how smart is that?), oil changers tell you to change your oil every 3k, BMW tries to sell extended warranties and maint. to the tune of 4-6k, etc.
I figure a pay cut is not the end of the world, just a wake-up call and humbling experience. Personally, I would never work more for less, but that's what I say because I haven't faced it yet. I'm still at a point in my career where I'm overworked and underpaid (unlike my bosses you'll find me in the office making 1/2, not on golf courses or 'working from home' making triple), so in this economy that's job security! lol Good luck OP... |

wow, I guess that culture is prevalent everywhere in the world. I'm in the same situation as you; overworked + underpaid while the bosses are working from home (and when you email them something during their 'working hours', they take a few hours to get back to you).
Working from home, that's the epitome of oxymoron right there.

Danny, my suggestion to you would be to keep your car. You've done some tasteful mods on it already and it's still running great. To keep it fresh and new, I suggest you buy the LCI euro headlights + LCI aero kit (looks great and functional; it's got additional air ducts to cool the engine and brakes). Suspension-wise, get M3 parts, check out the suspension sub-forum, Mr. 5 and others have had great experience driving with M3 suspension bits. Also, I would add BMW Performance exhaust and intake to the list as well.
Exterior: LCI euro + LCI aero kit Performance: BMW Performance intake + exhaust Suspension: M3 suspension bits Interior: DVD entertainment, IPod retro and bluetooth retro combined, it should give you that new car feel

Keep the car, it looks good. and slowly mod it. Take your time and at the end you will have a car that you will be proud off. BTW when you get ready for the front lip, i'll take OEM splitters from you

I was recently in a similar situation and was about to get a new car then decided to keep my 330i which I got about 3 years ago. After I bought it at lease buyout (last month)I decided I would allow myself about $500 in mods max. I got blacklines , lux 5 and picked up a m3 style spoiler here already painted from a member for about 100. All 3 mods were about $600 but it refreshed my car.
I really would like to do more mods but am taking advice from a good friend who told me to just save the money for my next ride. In short, a good strategy is to do a couple of mods you really want, then save the rest of the money for your next car.

Keep the 330. It's a great car, somewhat rare, and you know exactly how it's been treated. I love 330s.

Wow, looks like you've got a bunch of mods already. Hold onto it an reevaluate again next year. The 330i is a near-perfect DD. I'm still enamored with mine.
