Steering wheel peeling...

Is this covered by the warranty? The white part is where the black is peeling away from the wheel.

Had almost my entire interior black trim peices (door handles, ect) replaced my last visit to the dealership. This time they are fixing my fading steering wheel emblem and are having to order a brand new $800 airbag for the simple $1 emblem Gotta love BMW Warranty sometimes

I thought I was the only one that had this. Almost in the exact same spot. Glad to hear it's under warranty

I thought the grey interior was the only one that developed white spots. Guess they all do? Geez -- you would think the plastic would have pigment mixed in; not surface painted.

the part where you see "discoloration" is from the black paint (or whatever it is) peeling and exposing the bare metal.

mine is starting to peel, but isn't as bad...i hope my dealership covers it...btw is it possible to get just that steering wheel trim piece?

nice to know... the BMW emblem on my steering wheel looks either fading or oxidizing.

Hey, thats why you have a warranty I talked to one of the techs at my dealership about the emblem, and he started nodding his head and said it wasnt an uncommon issue and they have replaced some before. The part that sucks for BMW is that the emblem is attached to the airbag, so the entire airbag has to be replaced... $$ouch

I don't think they will cover a scratch, they will just say you did it. But mines started bubbling and as soon as it did I took it in, and now they are replacing it.
