Performance Exhaust
Has anyone installed the BMW performance exhaust for their car? Does it improve performance in anyway or is it more just nice looking / sounding add on? Maybe I'm getting deaf, but to be honest I don't really hear a difference (at least on videos).

No power gain. Stock exhaust is pretty much straight pipe muffler when valve is open.
You get some hp (5-8) for removing secondary cats. But bmw performance exhaust does not remove them. |

Yes, CF tips are an additional $1,300.

To bad they can't just put on the performance exhaust at the factory for what ever the additional charge would be vs selling you another one. What you supposed to do with the old one? I have enough unused junk the house.

RPI is claiming +32whp. Probably because it's removing cats it looks like.

i would need to hear it in person to make a decision; even if it was something I wanted to do, I'd use the current exhaust for a year or so then change it. That way I don't feel so bad in wasting a perfectly good exhaust. It's not like its a cheap exhaust. When the smoke clears the cost (exhaust, tips, installation) its could hover near 8-10% of the total car cost.

There is no way M3/M4's HP with stock exhaust will fall like that at top end. They did something wrong with dyno when dyno-ing car with stock exhaust. Actual HP gain from their exhaust will most likely be like 5 hp. This is properly dyno stock M4 power graph. |
