Just FYI, had a build slot with base HIFI system but my SA called me this week and said he could add HK surround now.

May want to check if this is important to you. It was the standard $875 up charge.

Checked the BMWNA site didn’t see the option listed

It doesn’t show up on the BMW website but it’s on the build sheet. I’m sure they have a different system.

Just tell your SA to give you the next allocation. If HK is an option now, I would not take the HiFi since it's really really bad

Okay I just checked with my SA and she said it's not available....

Maybe it's for M50i or Alpina?

I would suggest switching from Alpine White to Mineral White Metallic. I have had both (MWM on 2 cars and AW on 4), and much prefer the MWM. Aside from the subtleties with metallic, it's one of BMW's thickest paint applications overall, and chips a lot less easily.

If you're going to add PPF or really like the uni color/look, feel free to ignore me, just a friendly suggestion!

Man, I've always wanted an Alpine White BMW since I was a kid. Now that I can afford one, I don't think I'll notice the difference enough to care.

Just heard back from the CA. Of course I can't add it to my vehicle now. She is asking to see if they can get me a closer allocation. Seems like they got a good amount of allocation on X7 this month and I'm actually the 3rd in line of the production so I would say there would be a good chance I'm getting an allocation right now.

I will need to weigh in the waiting time on the new allocation with my wife also. We were planning to go on a road trip in May. Now early June would be my bottom line.

Definitely want to get this option for under 1k.

I just took delivery of a 22 40i last week in which I couldn't get the HK which was disappointing, now a bit more so with this info popping up. We are coming from a 2020 that did have HK and I have to say there is a difference but both systems really aren't great, and the difference isn't as big as it should be. It's my wife's car and I'm 100% certain she won't notice the difference. It's unfortunate I have B&O in my family/sports hauler Expedition that blows both of them away.

If you can get another allocation that won't take super long I'd say go for it, if it's going to take a while we're likely getting to the ballpark of LCI deliveries. If it's a lease and your just going to turn it over in 36 months or less I'm not sure matters much, but to each their own obviously - I know I'd prefer to get it if I could have.

I did get another allocation. Looks like I called right on time, they just got allocation couple days ago. So I'm going from a week 15 build to week 18. 3 weeks long is not that much now. I'm keeping the car for at least 5-7 years if everything goes well so a better audio system is important. Also the HK would give more potential if we really want to go with aftermarket. I'm sure HiFi would be better than my current option (2015 Jeep GC base). However, I'm very happy I can get the new system. Also a potential rare build for MY22 i40 as most of them don't have HK.

Speaking for the LCI. There will always be new cars and I'm planning to have something for my wife in 2-3 years. So iDrive 8 could be something for her in the future.
