Floor mats

Does anyone else, besides me, have this problem?: I have Step tranny, and I like to rest my right foot on the cushioned area of the mat that says "BMW." While I am driving, my heel slides towards the pedal and gets caught between the edge of this raised cusioned area and the front edge of the mat (right below the gas). Adjusting the seat is not helping.

#1 I got the aluminum pedals with the grippy rubber inserts...
#2 I bought some sweet aftermarket velcro pads and fabric glued the hook'nloop side to the flloorboard and the other side to the foam mat bottom...then I positioned the mats where I wanted them...they haven't moved since...
#3 I usually have my drivers seat about and inch or two closer to the pedals than I do in my other cars...I find I like a slightly tighter to the wheel feeling in the BMW...don't know why...

Try those...

Great. However, it's not the mat that slides, it's my heel sliding into the divot as discussed above.

1) try Piloti driving shoes...great grip...
2) increase leg strength??
3) Push the gas pedal harder and more frequently.??

i never really like carpeted floor mats, so i use the thick winter rubber mats instead overtop of the carpeted floor. when the mats wear down, i toss them and get a new set

Thought about this, too. Or maybe aftermarket carpeted mats without the cushioned foot rest.

+1
I really like my all weather rubber mats.
The only thing is that they need to be secured to the floor to prevent slipping.

The OEM rubber mats don't have the velcro attached?

They come with some hooks that need to be screwed to the floor.
My floor mats were "free" when I got the car and they did not give me the hooks.
I drove for about 9 months without them and I hated them because of the slipping.
Thanks to this board, I realized the hooks should come with the mats.
I did not want to take the trip to passport and have a lost battle asking them
for the hooks, so I called Tischer willing to buy them.
I got them for free from them Tischer.

That's my story.

I gotta do something. Can't find a comfortable foot position. I'll give the rubber mats a try....
Does anyone place the rubber mats on top of the carpeted mats?

I have read that some people are placing the rubber mats on top of the carpeted mats and further saying they aren't noticing any movement. Certainly the carpet floor mats are already fastened with velcro to the floor. Alternatively, I have researched Cocomats. They look great. Bottom line: I just don't want my foot sliding around on the mat, whatever it's made of.

+1 for the all weather mats. I have them and they are great, however the rubber is getting scuffed up pretty good from the hard edges on my dress shoes. Minor detail.

oh and I also found that wearing flip flops w/ the all weather mats is a big no no, they have deep grooves which can catch the back of the flip flop keeping your foot buried on the pedal. In general flip flops and driving stick are a no no, but especially w the rubber mats.

I tried to drive with sandals one day and almost have an accident.
So, my rule: do not wear slippers/flip flops/sandals/cleats/clown shoes/etc. when driving.
