Morning, gents,

I don't think we have a consolidated thread of dyno results in our seu forum as of yet, thus I thought I would Ty to start one as I had a dyno performed this morning.

Please list vehicle year, model (diesel model of course), any mods worth mentioning, and type of dyno

Here's mine...
2011 335d w/53k miles, JBD @ 100%, Dynojet

Best run was 287hp, 503lb/ft

It goes w/out saying that I think the TQ number was wrong. I believe that I have some sort of mechanical degradation resulting in power loss over the last 50k miles (possibly carbon), thus my hope is to change all fluids, have someone almond-blast the intake, then re-dyno for results.

Now lets see yours!

Hmmm. This is wheel HP and wheel torque, not crank, right. So it should not be as high. What I mean is, the non-JBD advertised 265 hp and 425 ft/lbs would be lower than that on this dyno, right? So, your torque I thought looked about right, but the HP looked lower than I would have thought for JBD 100%.

How much was it and what kind of stress does it put on your car? Reason I ask is because maybe I should come do mine that has only 13k miles.

It was pretty painless...seemingly no more stress than a standard pull on the road. Yes, these numbers are at the wheel. I think the TQ numbers are about 80 high. The guy running the dyno warned me that they would be off as he could not get proper readings from our car. The hp I think is 15-20 lower than others have posted at 100% (which would confirm my hypothesis if I would've dynoed when I first got the car, but-alas-I did not).

Still, though, good numbers for the efficiency and at least now I have a baseline.

Rotor I try to do a dyno run soon and now I know which cable is the one for TORQUE measure thanks to lenny from RENNtech finally he sent me a pic to which one cable is the correct one!!

I'm having a heck of a time finding anyone to clean the intake on the d. The usual suspects in my area haven't been able to help much, hich only leaves me with the $700 options. My goal was to do a baseline with jbd@100, clean intake & do another pull, then get a tune (not sure which yet but probably RENNtech) & final dyno.

The torque numbers are correct. If you do the math of Tq*RPM/5252 it matches up with the dyno results.

It does look like the HP numbers are very low. TQ looks about right.

It's nice to see that Moore's got the updated software to pull torque numbers - last year they could not.

At last year's dyno session at Moore's with the JBD set approx 2 1/2 clicks down from 100% my car dyno'd a best of 293.7 rwhp (no intake, no exhaust or other work). No torque readings.

Bottom line the results from Moore's dyno are all over the map so I would not put a lot of stock in them. Another d owner that went ahead of me with the JBD set at 100% measured 34hp higher than me! I know that's not right.

Hp numbers are just a math equation based on TQ. They will always be consistent and will always follow that simple equation. HP is really a make believe number once you know its all about the TQ.

Regardless of that, diesels are nasty fun down low.

Yes, plus twin exhaust from DPF casing back, with an equaliser pipe before they extend out to the tips.

yes indeed some people hv told me or bitch cause they expected higher numbers , before this dyno run I had the previous week done one before the WAGNER IC I clocked at I believe 306 and the temps were at 70 degrees F, this dyno run was done a week later with the IC at around the same time but temps were 90 degress F!!!! thats 20 degrees higher, the weather factor clearly reduced a better reading. Im planning to do another one in the future, Car has been running GREAT w the WAGNER IC, just came out of the shop TWO sensors gone BAD on me cause of the UREA Criistalization in the exhaust area (i have a pic of this) I will provide info in my FAULT CPODES blog ok!!

Well, I'll add to the knowledge base a little.

Scheduled a dyno appoint for this morning with a fairly close diesel shop: http://www.shop.blackwidowdiesel.com/

They specialize in diesel pickups. They have a Superflow dyno with the biggest, heaviest drums they made. It’s big enough for dually pickups to use without removing the outer wheels. The Superflow can be setup in several configurations (the big turbo trucks usually need a load applied before the turbot’s will spool up) but I asked him to put in something similar to a DynoJet, which means inertial config (no load on the rollers except for their own mass).

Weather was sub optimum as we’ve been getting rain for what seems like forever. Nearest weather station said 66F, 63F dew point, 90% humidity, 29.7 in barometer … and it was sprinkling outside when I left.

Had a hard time keeping the car from shifting out of 4th gear on the pulls if applying too much skinny pedal at low rpm’s. Ended up starting the run at ~2000 rpm and gently rolling into the pedal. That seemed to work well, but its missing the lower rpm data.

This is on a car with stock emissions equipment (DPF/SCR) and stock intercooler.

Compared the Evolve to the Evolve + my customized stuff (progressive rail pressure distortion and 2D H2O/methanol injection at 55% H2O/45% methanol).

From the ¼ mile performance (12.6’s and ~109-110 mph) the online calculators predicted ~ 400 crank horsepower. I’ve seen all kinds of ways to account for drive train loss, but for RWD automatics a common value I’ve seen thrown around is ~20% drive train loss. That would then mean something like ~ 320 at the wheels if that‘s true.

Dyno results can vary all over the place, even for the same car on the same day (http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/03...ine_dyno_dash/), so we should all take these dyno results with a grain of salt.

This dyno test results that are attached showed 327 wheel hp and 501 peak wheel torque for the Evolve + Custom stuff and 282hp 436tq with just Evolve by itself. My Gtech hp/tq tests from another thread showed the Evolve gave about the same hp gains as the JBD by itself at ~100%.

The hp numbers agree well with the ¼ mile track results and ~20% drive train loss assumption. I still think the most useful results come from track results (seen a lot of examples of large hp dyno numbers that don’t do well at the track) as I drive most of the time on a road and not strapped to a dyno...

Also took BT data during the pulls. The results lineup with my other measurements in the 335d data collection thread.

The EGT’s are reasonable for this power level, and the custom 2D H2O injection does an amazingly good job of controlling IAT’s (with the lower power level of just the Evolve remap the IAT’s hit 144F and with the much higher levels of the custom config the IAT’s peak at only 106F)

The highest pressure drop across the DPF I recorded was 267 mbar (or 3.9psi).

I'm not sure why the temps would help as the SAE correction factor should account for environmental variables such as that.

Also, if you read that link for the Dyno Dash (same car, same day, 5 different dyno's) the SuperFlow dyno gave the lowest numbers. I used a SuperFlow today...

how are they getting the rpm signal to calculate the torque the motor is putting out?
i called at least 6 dyno shops and nobody wants to mess with a diesel...
