Habsone Thanks. I think so too. I may get the mirrors and roof wrapped in gloss black.

I would love to hear if you see any difference between the laser headlights and the standard Adaptive LED headlights. |

I haven't driven a X7 with standard LED headlights but I would guess there is little to no perceivable difference since the Laser lights are limited to half their actual high-beam distant due to US laws. I know many think they 'look cool' but functionally the LED's should work just as well in the US.

As far as I understand the standard LED headlights can only turn the high beams on or off and light the corners when turning. |

None of that works on the Laserlight headlights in the States, due to (antiquated) NHTSA regulations, unfortunately.

Then what's the advantage to upgrading to the Laser Light headlights if none of those features work in the upgraded headlights? Why would anyone pay an extra 1K for upgraded headlights that have no advantage over the stock LED headlights?

The truth is there's not much point in the Laserlight headlights in the US. For one, they only impact the highbeams; lowbeams just use the usual LED headlights (this, I believe, is true universally, not just in the States). Secondly, as Littlejoe mentioned, when the highbeams are on and the Laserlights are actually in use, their reach is neutered in the US thanks to the aforementioned NHTSA regulations and none of the anti-dazzling tech functions — which means they're probably not significantly more effective than the standard LEDs with the highbeams on. Maybe slightly better, but not a night and day difference. So why would anyone in the US care about them? Well, speaking personally... I think the blue accents look cool as hell. That's really about it. Would I order an M50i instead of a 40i or 50i JUST for the Laserlight headlights? Not at all. But the other differences with the M50i are compelling to me, and the Laserlight headlights are just a bit of (blue) icing on the cake. |

Because you can code the non-US features back in..

I have coded LED lights on my X6M and they work very cool. I can have high beams on and the lights are adjusted every time there is upcoming traffic or someone in front by reallocating a small portion of the light away from the affected cars. Not sure if you can yet do the same with laser lights

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1610992 Now if this is different to remove the 5AP on the X5/X7 option that decodes it for the U.S., not sure - but Adaptive Lighting is tied to High-Beam Assist and not laser lights specifically.

Thank you for the link. No doubt an owner with the laser lights (like me) will be testing the coding on their X7 and post the results. |
