Rear camera
Hi All- random question but I can’t figure out if there is an option to change the camera view.
When in reverse, the rear camera is working. I then put the car in drive and would like to see the front camera view - but instead it continues to show me the rear camera view. Is there an option to change that? Once in drive, I would like to see the front camera view, not back! |

If you start to roll forward it doesn't switch to the front view? It should if the camera system is automatic.
Try turning off the parking assist button and turning on camera view. |

No, when I roll forward it doesn’t automatically switch. It continues to show me my rear view. I just took a video and trying to upload but keeps telling me it is invalid!

I know it's a coded option to keep the rear view camera on while driving for a minute. If you didn't code your car, I would take it to a dealer to get this fixed.

There's another thread here somewhere that talks all about this. I believe it's by default so the driver can see what was behind them even if they pull forward. Especially after backing over/into something. If they pull forward they get a wider/longer view of area behind them. I don't like it but the workaround for me is to press the camera button to the left of the gear shift. That brings up a separate, smaller screen that shows an Aerial 3D photo of your vehicle so you can see everything around you. I'm on 07/2019.59 iDrive I believe. I've also reset iDrive multiple times. It still does it. |

I think the rationale behind this behavior is that when maneuvering around obstacles, the camera would stay on the least visible view (thus most beneficial). The front view to be honest is sort of optional, as you simply need to look ahead! And if you really want the front view, just press the panorama camera button - it's much better than the parking front view. |

I get the rationale but my previous Audi Q7 switched automatically and I loved that feature! Or at least the X7 driver should be able to change that feature! Thanks everyone.
