there are lot of "sporty options"
the daytona in stainless steal goes for about 11k u have Breitling, Cartier, TAG, Omega, Panerai all make sporty watches that are beautiful and are below and higher than your price range. These are my top favorite watches, just get something you like, because ultimately it something you are going to wear and see on the daily. |

Thank you for all of the great replies. A chronograph is not a must-have option. If I could get my hands on a new white dial stainless Daytona I might just pull the trigger; The problem is that it is very hard to find unless you go the pre-owned route.

a two tone daytona (pre owned) will be cheaper than a stainless. theres such high demand for the stainless

If your budget is $6,000 - $15,000 and you really want a Daytona, then why don't you just get a Daytona?
http://www.watchrecon.com/?query=rolex+daytona There are plenty of examples for sale - BNIB and used well within your price range. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, look for a Tudor Pre-Tiger Chronograph or an Omega Speedmaster. I just read that you're interested in a white face SS Daytona. I have one that is BNIB never worn, full plastic still in tact, full documentation with an added 2 year warranty from my AD. Interested? This is most of my collection. I have a 2000 Rolex Explorer II, white face as well shown below. It was just serviced by Rolex and has a 2 year warranty. If you're interested in that, let me know. Well below your price point.

pams are always compared against daytonas
Ive got a goldsteel daytona & a pam 389, & I usually wear the rollie for posh dinners only, but the pam is on my wrist anytime of the day http://www.chaaky.com/chaaky/22 |

from a resale view, the only one who hold better are rolex, pams n certain special editions from other brands.
the rest just fall off a cliff the moment u cut that new tag off... i know alot of pple who collect rolexs simply because they like the idea that their watch collection dont become paperweights in the future & have better salvage value than say a JLC, which depreciates 50% or more in the resale mkt... |

Isn't that the purpose of buying more than one?
On a more serious note, I agree with you... Rolex is absolutely king when it comes to resell value.

Im not a fan of the chocolate daytona. the ice blue face is nice...but doesnt mix well with the brown. my favorite is the WG daytonas....either the black or white face.

There really is no replacement for the Daytona in my opinion. The history surrounding the watch is what makes it special. You win Le Mans? You get a Daytona. Paul Newman wore a Daytona. There are definitely nice chronos from other brands in the same price range but nothing that will give you the same heritage if that's what you're in to. The only other must have chrono in every collection is the Speedy moon watch.

My wife wears a white dial Daytona and loves it, but IMO detail and finishing on the case and band of the VC is much nicer. |
