Wireless charging Samsung S25

Hello,

Today I put my new Samsung S25+ on the X7 LCI wireless charging pad and it started charging but after about 10-20 seconds I got an error: "Wireless charging not possible. Foreign object detected in tray". I tried putting the phone without a case but the same problem. My old S24+ charges fine but not the S25+. Does anyone have the same problem with the new S25 series?

Hi DDV

This morning I've have done a little bit of a test and although only 20 minutes or so it did charge my 25 Ultra without issue.

All I did was pull the phone forward so the blue LED was barely visible. It has to be with the positioning of the charging coil.

My older Ultras I could just set them in anywhere which was mush easier I admit

Hi.

I was able to charge my phone for 10+ minutes once, but I can't reproduce it again. I guess that the S25 is charging at a higher current, and that's triggering some kind of protection in the wireless charger. May be if you made some space between phone and charger then it decrease a current and do not trigger protection.

Same here. I do some experiments too.

I wait only for 2 minutes for each test because for me, if it fails, 90% of the time it's within 20 seconds, the rest within 1 minute.

Car: 2019 BMW X5 G05 (non heated/cooled cupholder), 2024 BMW X5 G05 LCI (non heated/cooled cupholder), 2023 BMW 3series G20 LCI. Other brands tested: 2022 & 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Phone: Galaxy S10+, S22 Ultra, S23 Ultra (2 units), S24 Ultra, S25, S25+ (3 units) & S25 Ultra (4 units).

Result:
Hyundai Ioniq 5: All phones charges normally for at least 2 minutes.
BMW 3series G20 LCI: All phones charges normally for at least 2 minutes.
BMW X5 G05: All phones charges normally for at least 2 minutes.
BMW X5 G05 LCI: S22 Ultra is inconsistent (sometimes exact same error, sometimes charges), S25 works, ALL S25+ fails, half the S25 Ultra fails. All other phones works.

I went to local BMW to get diagnostics taken on the car, and while there tried the wireless charger on their display models (2024 X3 G01 LCI, 2024 3series G20 LCI & 2024 M2 G87) using just my personal 25 Ultra. All three failed.

The only conclusion I can make is that the newer your BMW, the higher the chance of you getting this issue. No idea if the fault is at BMW side or Samsung side.

No issues charging Galaxy S25 Ultra (with Ringke Fusion-X case) on my pre-LCI X7. I recently took a roadtrip (4hr+ each way), and didn't have any issues with charging.

I'm not sure if this helps, but try disabling the Fast Wireless Charging. My guess is it will help keep the phone battery cooler.
