M Peformance Brake kit
Hi guys, i have just installed the mperf bbk for my 320I and realised that it is more softer than stock. Send car into the agent for 4 times, but problem until today still not rectify as still feeling abit soft.
Agent let me drive their M135, but still find its bbk still soft. my meaning of soft is i have to step on half the brake before i can feel the braking effectiveness. I thought it should be a slight step will brake fast? Agent also find my bbk is softer, they have bleed my bbk two times already and coding was done. but now they are recommending to grind the brake pad or otherwise i should drive 2500km to burn in. Yes! 2500km! my question is this really the m perf bbk braking characteristic. what could it be wronged? |

Hi Ykau,
I was wondering if it was just your new pads bedding in? They might feel a bit "greasy" as first as the initial coating ablates but it should be in. Given it's a different system maybe just give yourself time to get used to it? I see you bled the system twice, but you may still have air in your lines if you're positive it's not the above. Popular option is to install braided steel lines to improve the translation of foot to brake power, this might help you with what you're after. 2,500km to bed in some brakes is ridiculous. Go easy on them for the first few hundred km's then you should be good to go (or stop, as the case may be). |

There are many who are stating soft pedal feel with the MSport Brembos and M Perf Brakes. Not to mention the squeal and brake dust. But Im sure they have better fule bore stopping power...also, using sport mode give the pedal more brake boost in tip-in.

Agree, tmr I'm going to send my car in again. I'm persistent to have it rectify no matter what.
So far below is the things which are done after the mperf installed: 1. Coding, adding VO SPBR and code DSC, agent has upgraded the latest ilevel to 505. 2. 2 x Breeding 3. Bedding already done at 3000km ( distance travelled) What agent going to do next, 1. grinding .( i find it waste of time) 2. Upgrade the rubber line to steel line. 3. Don't know about the boaster. If step 2 passed, i will skip this. |

I just installed it on mine too. Mine are still breaking in, but I think it is normal to have that softer feel. The 328i stock has very jerky brakes that feel like an on/off button. After the install, the brakes have a more linear travel, and in fact that is exactly how my M3's brakes are as well. You can try sending the car in over and over, but that's normal. The advantage is the more linear and progressive feel. If you don't like it, you may have to go back to stock :/

Try the 335 brake, essentially the same as M-performance minus the disc size... stock brake has better initial feel, but the effectiveness doesn't improve as you step more (stock brake), the brembo 4 pots are more progressive, i.e. the more you step the more "jiak" it become... and you'll be surprised how jiak the brembos can be if you dare to step
or... i can test drive for you to give you my 2 cents |

I've heard the M Performance brakes were "soft". Even if they have a more linear feel, I don't want a soft pedal. I'm thinking about Stop Tech brand as an alternative to BMW or Brembo. I wish I could test some before I spend thousands on brakes. |

Thanks bro, correct me if i'm wrong. The difference between both rotors and its outlook are different.
Finally , my car braking effectiveness has improved. more than 6 bleeding are done. The rectifying solution was to bleed them manually instead of using machine. This is what the mechanic from agent has told me. you can try run for me to see if it is as effective as the 335. Quote:

Regardless of fwd/rwd, front brakes are always resonsible for 60-70% of a vehicles braking.... If you're ever on a budget and you need a brake job, you can get away with just doing your front for a while.

At the risk of you running the car dangerously hard on public roads, try getting them warmed up and then see what the stopping qualities are.
