M Performance brakes and spacers fitted today
I already have the M Sport blue brakes so it was just the M Performance brake discs which have been fitted, along with new pads all round. I was supposed to get the braided brake hoses fitted, but they weren't long enough at the front to get round the big caliper, so this will need to wait.
Primary reason was aesthetic, as I just happen to think that grooved annd dimpled discs look much cooler! However I was hoping that the change would give the pedal a slightly sharper response at the top too. Otherwise I've had no issues with the brakes on hard driving. Work was done by Lenny at Deutsche Tech, and so big thanks to him and Sam for being very friendly and helpful, and also in speaking to HEL about the brake line issue. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone else, and I will certainly be going back there for future work. On the roads the car feels great, the brakes seem slightly more solid at the top so that's good. Looks wise... I think they're great! And the spacers have really helped too. I think the back of my car sits perfectly, but would love the front to be a tad lower, but the spacers and the brakes really give the car a bit of depth and interest in that area. Pics to follow.

Spacers seem perfect and the stance looks perfect at the rear to me.

They do indeed look cool!
Stance looks very good, hard to tell the difference so will be comparing with mine later on. You must be running out of things to buy for the car! |

Just picked up the diffuser today, so checking out DTP1980's exhaust over the weekend to hear how the car sounds with the back box removed... so that will be next I think, maybe in the next few weeks.
And just sorted out a good price to get my scuffed bumper sorted and the M Perf side skirts fitted! Oh, and then later today I'm going to fit the 442 wheels! Then after that it only leaves the further suspension work to do - ARB's and then coilovers/Birds/RS ACS And then I'm done...

Unless... the LCI comes out and has a much sturdier central console made with more robust plastics, in which case I would retrofit one of them.

15mm at rear and 12mm at front. Exact same specs as most others on here have gone for.

From what I can tell the front pads are the M Sport ones, and the rears are the M Performance ones. My dad got them for me and his parts guy said that is all that was available through BMW UK. Could be that he's wrong but I've fitted them for just now. They do feel a bit crisper though, but I suspect that's more to do with the fluid change and bleeding them than the new discs.
Went for the stud conversion kit with the spacers to make life easier when swapping wheels etc.

Looks really lovely. I didn't think that spacers would make so much difference but they do, looks great.
I wonder why your arch gap is larger at the front than mine, adaptive shocks? |

I really have no idea if my front sits higher than other folks 335d's... really need to see it alongside someone else's 335d.

Because they are the same calipers, it's just that the M Performance ones come in different colours. So for me it would be a complete waste of money, or even more so than replacing discs that didn't need replaced yet!

k44ENT posted this link in a thread earlier. It's a very informative site and tells the differences between the different brakes. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-br...fferences.aspx Tengocity The M Sport brake pads apparently give more bite than the M performance pads so this may contribute to why they feel crisper too. It is all very confusing because seemingly, when you get the M Sport Plus brake upgrade, it appears they are M performance calipers, with M Performance pads, the only difference being blank rather than slotted discs. |
