Funny how a 335 goes from amazing to nobody wants it
I got my 335 1 year ago, the car was hot, no discounts, everybody wants one blah blah.
Yet when I bring my MINT condition nicely equipped manual transmission E90 335I to Porsche for a trade evaluation they tell me Oh we would have to Wholesale this car, nobody wants it because it's a manual. Then they go look up values for a 330 since 335's are not in Galves yet. In case you are wondering, my 14,000 mile sport/premium/comfort/cold fetched me a $30,000 trade in last night at a Porsche dealer. Obviously I didn't do it, but that just makes me sick. BTW I love my 335 and am holding on to it, reason I was at Porsche was there was a great deal on a leftover Boxster and they just wouldn't play ball with me. Sorry but Honda offered me $34k 1 week ago without even seeing the car. Craziness.. In case you're wondering why i was at Honda..I was thinking about an Si to cut costs to save for a bigger house...aaannnd i like to try new things. Now I'm on to a Boxster. Don't mind me |

A 335 for a Boxster? What were you thinking? I wouldn't trade my 335 in for a Boxster if they called it an even trade...and I'm not joking around. IMHO Boxster's are ugly and are for those people who can't afford the 911.

I don't buy it, there on the lot now, but still selling. That's just Dealer trade-in shanagins. THey'll do whatever it takes to downplay the value of your car.

Seriously, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that you went to a porsche dealership. Try taking it to a specialized used car dealer. They'll probably be happy to take it off your hands. And just ignore tommy420, because he's obviously never driven a boxster.

Never ever trade in to a dealer. Always sell on the open market. Dealers are wary of taking in high end cars during a recession.

I think Autotrader, or the classifieds around the forums would net you better, but you probably knew that. Dealerships always try to screw you with the trade-ins, but of course it depends. A Porsche dealer probably can't sell a BMW the way a Honda dealer could (who would move it to his Acura lot)

Well, no, I think 911 drivers can bleh a boxster if they want. The boxster does provide the more visceral experience and is the truer sports car, but the carrera feels so special every time you start it up. If you were one of "those kids" who only cracked a book because you eventually wanted your very own 911, then there is no substitute. Few cars carry that history.

+1 That guy doesn't seem to know anything about cars, only suffering some kind of "Keep up and exceed the Joneses' complex" The Boxster is an amazing car and many (including me) will argue that the mid-engine set up is in fact better then the rear mounted 911. (Dont get me wrong, 911 is the car of dreams, but as a pure drivers car or on track, I prefer the Boxster/Cayman)

I've owned a string of 911's but never a Boxster. However, I have driven a few and they are nice cars. Surprisingly they can haul a reasonable amount of luggage for a trip as well.

Typical dealer approach. Always trying to low ball to make as much profit. They would give you 30K, and probably tried to sell it for $40K. Pure profit. I hate stealers.
