I didn't. Because I couldn't. From a set of patent images and 'spy' shots of highly camo'ed prototypes, you know the X5 has "cleaner form language"?

Okay.

Not impressed at all, especially with the grill. It's obnoxiously fat and the lights are squinty. The design looks more Mongoloid than German.

Looking at the history of the first gen of X5 and X3, its like there is a design requirement to make them look bizarre (in a bad way). Maybe to make the second gen look that much better?

That’s the base model X5? That looks great. I’m honestly shocked. If that’s the base I wouldn’t even bother with an M Sport.

Bring on the X7M CS 6MT (deleting sunroof and adding CF roof to save weight, lower center of gravity and make it more agile for track days, of course)!

As in many new BMW models, the grill is huge, disproportionate and ugly.
This one is REPUGNANT!

These new SUV grills are awful! They remind me of a pig snorting or something. I am not a huge SUV fan however I have ALWAYS thought BMW has nailed the X5. This new X5 and X7 front ends are just gross.

I think the x7 will look better when sitting side by side in the flesh.
If tow rating is close to 9k and the rear seats are usable for teenagers it will be a winner.

This way, if you get into a front end fender-bender instead of just replacing a grille or a headlamp you get to replace both -- or more.

The connected lights to grille styling exercise is a bonanza for replacement parts sales.

I agree.
Future X-BMW's designs should get a major overhaul.

Volvo's X look way better tbh..

Agree. I prefer the look of the rear lights with chrome bar on the X7, X5's lights look a bit bland in comparison (at least in the pictures).

However, the front looks much better on the X5 IMO. Prefer the separated lights and the bumper on it. I think the X7 needs the M-sport package, while the X5 looks good even without it.
