Same for anyone else. It's not the cheapest, but it's quick, and offers support by WhatsApp answering all questions. They also do other options and I'll get my speed limit FSC from them too. Highly recommended.

My iPhone has successfully reconnected to iDrive 100% of the time since installing the iOS 13 public beta. IMO the connection issues related to iDrive 7 and the X7 will be resolved when iOS 13 is officially released in September.
I wonder if X5/iDrive 7 owners running the iOS 13 public beta are experiencing the same results. |

Just a heads up. I updated to IOS 13 Developer Beta 3 and I can connect to CarPlay but can't seem to get to the interface now.
Is anyone on IOS 13 DB3 and having the same issue? 2019/03.44

just a quick one...you said somewhere that Apple Maps shows directions on the dash...does it also show it on the HUD, if you had one? Thanks!

Yup, same issue here - on my F80 anyway. The cost of "living on the edge" I guess ..... I would like to think there will be another beta release before iOS 13 goes final in Sep.

iOS 13 Public Beta 1 has been working flawlessly for me, not a single CarPlay reconnect problem. I just downloaded iOS 13 Public Beta 2 and did a quick road test, still working but I'll post an update if I encounter any bugs while using CarPlay.

Ugh. Both Developer beta 3 versions cause issues with CarPlay.

I should have added my comments here but I've been using public beta 2 and there are some huge improvements for CarPlay:
https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8#post25005668 Particularly UI updates and stability....

BMW had me bring the X7 into the shop for a software update. I'm now at 03/2019.60
They said this update addresses the connectivity issues for iPhones. As I've posted on this thread several times, since updating to iOS 13 I have not encountered any additional connection issues but if I notice any other changes or improvements I'll update this post. |

Regardless of which 13 beta, there is a design flaw (I presume Apple's) with Wireless CarPlay - when connected this way, the phone largely believes it is connected to a wifi network (which it is) which it then presumes has internet connectivity (which it does not, as its only a closed network to the BMW system itself)
Thus, your iPhone is rendered useless for any internet access (it won't use cellular when connected to wifi (so Mail, web browsing, and third part apps say there is no internet connection. Clearly, select Apple apps dont see this issue (Music, Mail, Siri searches etc.), so there must be some provision to know to use cellular when connected to a dead-end wifi network. But I cannot, for example, using the streaming Sirius XM app via CarPlay, or on the phone for that matter when connected to the car. I dont use Waze or Google Maps, but I wonder if they are impacted as well. Has anyone noticed this, or know if there is a work-around? |

Yes, Maps works, as does Music streaming and Messages via CarPlay. But when the phone is connected this way, the phone itself is dead to the internet. See if your phone shows a DIRECTblah blah blah connection listed in Settings>Wifi when you are in the car and CarPlay is active. If so, try to browse with Safari or check mail. Further, apps like SiriusXM are not working - no internet connection since the phone is connected to a dead-ended wifi point If wifi is definitely not enabled in your car, then my connection process was very different. I had to turn wifi for in the car, and then follow the wireless carplay connect steps which silently and automatically connected to the BMW wifi access point as part fo the process (uses Bluetooth to commence the connection process and that connection negotiates the Wifi connection with no intervention on your part). |

My iPhone was able to do this while connected the BMW "WiFi Direct" network before activating the hotspot. I have not experience the no internet issue unless I also had no LTE signal.
